OAKLAND, Calif. -- Neighbors of a father fatally shot Friday in Oakland are asking for help raising money for a funeral, according to a GoFundMe campaign page created Saturday.

The campaign organizer, Carol Robison, identified her neighbor as Roy Lee and said he was shot and killed in front of his house on Friday while being robbed.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at 5:37 p.m. in the 4000 block of Allendale Avenue. Oakland police Officer J. Moore said it was the only fatal shooting that day.

Responding officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

The man was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, police said.

According to the fundraising page, Lee was a "devoted husband to Pam Mason, his partner of 20 years and a committed father to both his daughters, Paige and Porche, and his stepson, Patrick."

"Often seen working on his car and listening to music in front of their home, he was always friendly and welcoming to his neighbors," the page reads. "He was a good man and worked hard to support his family."

The campaign is seeking to raise funds to pay for funeral expenses and basic living costs while the family grieves.

As of around 11 a.m. Sunday, the campaign had raised $1,130 out of a $5,000 goal.
