ABC7 Star Scholar: Clayton's Giovy Webb

CLAYTON, Calif. (KGO) -- ABC7 is recognizing seven Bay Area high school seniors for their extraordinary achievements and awards each with a $1,000 scholarship toward his or her college education. Here's a look at a [url HREF="http://abc7news.com/education/about-abc7-star-scholars/25733/" TARGET="" REL=""]Star Scholar[/url] from the East Bay who is an academic all-star athlete who hopes to end world hunger.[br /][br /]ABC7 Star Scholar Giovy Webb is a self-professed softball junkie who lives by the motto "nothing is impossible."[br /][Ads /][br /]"I continued my high grades. I continued standing out on the field and that attracted the Ivy Leagues immediately and when I saw it was possible I was like, whoa! I'm going to chase this opportunity down," Webb said.[br /][br /]The Clayton teen just graduated from Carondelet High School and signed a four-year commitment to play softball at Yale University.[br /][br /]"I'm super excited. I mean, I love my school and everything. I've had an awesome time these past four years, but I mean, I'm really looking forward to the future and what's to come," Webb said.[br /][br /]The all-star academic athlete will also be studying economics and computer science.[br /][br /]"I definitely think mixing economics and computer science is a great way that we can solve real world social problems," Webb added. "The biggest problem that i see in my book is world hunger."[br /][br /]"That's my ultimate goal in life, to communicate to people that there is a better way to distribute our resources," she said.[br /][Ads /][br /]Webb's already helping by volunteering at Saint Bonaventure Food Pantry in Concord.[br /][br /][b]Thomas:[/b] "How does it feel to be an ABC7 Star Scholar?"[br /][br /][b]Webb:[/b] "Wow, well being an ABC7 Star Scholar feels awesome. It feels an amazing.
