Fatal accident cleared from NB I-880 in Oakland

All lanes of Interstate Highway 880 and the 98th Avenue on-ramp in Oakland have reopened following a fatal accident this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

An accident involving a Coca-Cola truck and motorcycle was reported on northbound Highway 880 just south of 98th Avenue around 4:20 a.m., the CHP said.

A Sig-alert was issued at 4:45 a.m. The lanes and on-ramp were reopened shortly before 6:15 a.m., according to the CHP.

Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area and use westbound Interstate Highway 580 as an alternate route, the CHP said.

The Alameda County coroner's bureau responded to the scene.
