"For the next seven days, the intersection is going to be blocked off to traffic, the side streets, the alternative roots will be crowded. We would encourage people not to drive in the area and to use transit wherever possible," said SFMTA Transit Director John Haley.

The work will keep the subway on track to open in 2019. The project will install track to connect the existing Muni T Third rail line to the under-construction Central Subway. It will also upgrade traffic signals to prioritize transit vehicles.
During construction, Muni service will experience delays and service changes. The E Embarcadero, F Market & Wharves, K Ingleside, N Judah and T Third Street lines will be affected the most. Among the changes, buses will replace trains on the T Line.
