Brush fire burning 50 acres near Gilroy
A fire has burned 50 acres of vegetation in about an hour this afternoon in unincorporated Santa Clara County, Cal Fire officials said.

GILROY, Calif. -- Firefighters stopped the forward progress of a brush fire that has burned 150 acres in unincorporated Santa Clara County near Gilroy on Sunday, Cal Fire officials said.



As of 8:59 p.m. the fire that started near the intersection of Castro Valley Road and U.S. Highway 101 was 50 percent contained.



The fire was first reported at 4:07 p.m. and in about an hour it burned 50 acres. By about 6 p.m. it had burned 150 acres.



The fire is not threatening any structures and no one has been injured, Cal Fire spokesman Scott McLean said.
