SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- On Monday, kids in San Francisco got a lesson they don't always get at school or at home -- how to use money.

Representatives from Bank of the West visited John Yehall Chin Elementary School near Chinatown to teach kids about financial literacy.

The students were given money boxes with three separate sections. One of the boxes was for spending, one for saving and another was for donating to charity.

Research shows that if a child learns to save in kindergarten, they are six times more likely to go to college.
