As emergency crews from the city's public works, fire and utilities address storm-related damage, Novato public officials again are asking residents to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel.
Like many cities in the Bay Area, Novato on Saturday experienced heavy rain and strong winds, leading to widespread power outages, downed power lines and trees, flooding, road closures, debris on roadways, and traffic signal outages throughout the city.
Emergency crews from Novato Police, Public Works and Building, as well as Novato Fire and Pacific Gas and Electric are working to resolve multiple storm-related incidents, city officials said.
Residents who must travel are asked to adhere to emergency signage and proceed cautiously as cleanup efforts continue and crews work to reopen roadways.
If a traffic signal is out, motorists should treat the intersection as a four-way stop. Drivers should not attempt to drive through flooded areas and should keep away from downed or hanging power lines.
