Storm Live Updates: Toppled trees, thousands without power across Bay Area

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area for Saturday calls for rain and thunderstorm in most part of the region.

Daytime highs will be mostly in the high 50s to low 60s on the coast, mid 50s to low 60s around the bay, and in the mid to high 60s inland. Overnight lows will be mostly in the mid 30s to low 40s.

According to the NWS, the North Bay and Bay Area will experience moderate to heavy rainfall Saturday night with strong winds. Strong south winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are possible.

There is a High Wind Warning in the Coastal areas and East Bay Hills until 7 a.m., on Saturday. Meanwhile, there is an ongoing Wind Advisory in the Interior Bay Area and Interior Central Coast effective until Saturday, 10 a.m.

The weather conditions are expected to be the strongest overnight and into late Sunday morning.

Cars submerged in Livermore floodwaters

Livermore police are warning drivers to avoid the area of Murrieta and Stanley Boulevards due to flooding.

In a post on X, at least two cars could be seen submerged in floodwater under and overpass.

Police say do NOT drive through flooded roads because water may be deeper and more dangerous than it looks.

Rare Tornado Warning issued for San Francisco

The National Weather Service has lifted the tornado threat for the city of San Francisco at 6:07 a.m.

The NWS initially sent a Tornado Warning at around 5:56 a.m. for northern San Mateo County and portions of downtown San Francisco.

Radar detected possible tornado conditions near San Francisco, South San Francisco, and Pacifica around 5:55 a.m.

The agency also reminds everyone of possible flash flooding due to torrential rains. Everyone is encouraged to stay vigilant and aware of weather conditions.
