SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco police have reopened Market Street between 8th and 9th streets after investigating a suspicious metal box found in front of the Wells Fargo Bank.

Police determined that the item did not pose any danger.

The package was reported at 1:27 p.m. in the 1200 block of Market Street.

A security guard reported that a large metal box was in front of a bank, police spokesman Officer Carlos Manfredi said.

The bomb squad responded with a bomb-sniffing dog, which did not smell anything suspicious.
