6.3 preliminary magnitude earthquake strikes Peru

PERU (KGO) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.3 struck in Peru on Thursday, according to the USGS.

Officials said the earthquake struck 28 miles west northwest of Juliaca, which is near La Paz, at about 2:40 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
