OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- It's the end of an era for Bay Area newspapers. Both the San Jose Mercury News and the Oakland Tribune printed their last editions on Monday.
The newspapers aren't going away, but they are being rebranded.
The Tribune will swallow up the Contra Costa Times, the Hayward Daily Review and the Fremont Argus. It will be at the newsstand Tuesday at the new East Bay Times.
The San Jose Mercury News will merge with the San Mateo Times and will be known simply as the Mercury News.
