Report: Ghost Ship warehouse owner knew of electrical issues 2 years before deadly fire

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- More information surfaced Friday about the Ghost Ship fire that killed 36 people in Oakland last December. ABC7 News media partner The East Bay Times says the owners of the warehouse knew about dangerous electrical problems more than two years before the fire and did nothing to fix them.

E-mails obtained by the East Bay Times show the owners were made aware the power supply to the building had been upgraded without the necessary city permits.

Responding to a request for a "total and immediate" electrical upgrade in Feb. 2015. The son of the building owner responded that "The lack of electrical infrastructure was made very clear before your lease began."
