SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco police commissioners are considering requesting more than $6 million to cover overtime costs.
Part of the increased costs are because the department has hired, and therefore needs to train, more new officers.
Officers are also spending more time in court on cases.
The department also notes an increase in the costs on "First Amendment gatherings," as well as services for the homeless.
The commissioners could vote to send the request for more money to the board of supervisors, which makes the final decision.
