SAN JOSE -- San Jose police are investigating a homicide that occurred Monday evening near San Jose State University.
According to police, at 5:07 p.m. officers responded to the 600 block of South 10th Street on a report of loud bangs coming from inside a residence.
Officers arrived and found a woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The suspect, who police have not yet identified, remains at large.
According to police, investigators do not yet know the motive for the shooting or the circumstances that led to it.
The identity of the victim will not be released until it has been confirmed by the coroner's office and the next of kin has been notified, police said.
This homicide remains under investigation. Further details were not immediately available.
