Paralyzed bride walks down the aisle
Iowa bride was determined to take the walk down the aisle

PACIFIC JUNCTION, IA -- Six years ago, a woman from Pacific Junction, IA, was paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident, but when it came time for her wedding day, she wasn't going to let the injury stop her from walking down the aisle.

Gary Giaffoglione, father of the bride, said, "I told her, 'Whether we roll down that aisle or whether we walk down that aisle, we're gonna do this.' Whichever way we have to do it, it's been her dream. Obviously, it's a dad's dream of having the honor of walking your daughter down the aisle."

Gina Giaffoglione went through months of physical therapy to make sure her wish came true. Specialists even re-designed her leg brace so it could hide under her wedding gown for the big day.

She also managed to keep her progress a secret from wedding guests at the same time.

Gina Giaffoglione said, "This walk down the aisle might not be what I always envisioned it to be, but we're having a walk down the aisle, and it's happening and there is no way that anybody can be upset about that."

The newlywed says she hope her commitment will help others be thankful in their daily lives.
