$110K reward offered for information related to shooting of student in SF

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A new reward has been announced to help find the killer of a college student who was gunned down near Ghirardelli Square almost one year ago.

Congresswoman Jackie Speier, U.S. Park police, and the parents of Calvin Riley announced a $50,000 reward is being offered in the case. A $10,000 reward has also been offered by the United States Park Police, and another $50,000 reward was offered earlier this year by Riley's father, bringing the total to $110,000.

Twenty-year-old Riley was shot and killed at Aquatic Park while playing Pokemon Go last August. U.S. Park police released a suspect sketch earlier this year, but no arrests have been made.

U.S. Park Police are looking for a vehicle of interest in the case, described as a 2006-2009 dark Audi A3 Wagon. The second vehicle of interest has been changed to a white 2013 four-door Hyundai Sonata.

Kariann Riley says the past 11 months with her son dead and his killer free have been torture. "It's been hell, we're living a nightmare every day. We still feel like he's coming home. It's hard to realize that he's not and we don't know how to go on without him," Kariann said.

"It is not going to be a cold case. We will not allow it to become a cold case. And by upping the amount of money that's now a reward at $110,000, makes this case very much alive," Speier said.

Kariann describes her son as a beautiful soul. She says getting his killer behind bars will bring her family some sense of justice and closure.
