Priest attacked at by homeless man in Burlingame

BURLINGAME, Calif. (KGO) -- A Catholic priest from the Peninsula is recovering from serious injuries after he was beaten by a homeless man at the Saint Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Burlingame.

Police say the priest confronted a transient and ordered him to leave. The priest was concerned the man was about to urinate, in public, on the church grounds. The transient became upset and punched the priest repeatedly in the face.

The priest suffered facial injuries and a broke his right elbow when he was knocked to the ground.

Police later arrested 43-year-old David Lewis for the attack.
