SAN DIEGO -- A newborn jaguar cub was spotted playing with his mom inside the cave viewing area at the San Diego Zoo. The cute romp was caught on camera.
Nindiri gave birth to the boy cub late last month. The jaguar is the third baby for 7-year-old Nindiri.
Visitors who want to see the newborn may spot the mom and cub during Play Days. The zoo says it's not just fun and games. During playtime, Nindiri teaches the cub spatial reasoning skills and helps him develop his muscles.
The jaguar is an endangered species. It's estimated that there are about 10,000 jaguars left in the wild, but their numbers are decreasing rapidly.
