San Jose police investigating fatal hit-and-run

SAN JOSE -- Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision in South San Jose this morning, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in the area of East Capitol Expressway and Seven Trees Boulevard around 1:35 a.m., Officer Albert Morales said.

Arriving officers found a man in the roadway suffering from serious injuries and soon after he was pronounced dead at the scene, Morales said.

The suspect vehicle struck the victim and fled the scene, he said.

No description of the suspect or suspect vehicle was immediately available.

Police have closed East Capitol Expressway in both directions between Seven Trees Boulevard and Snell Avenue and estimated to reopen at about 6:30 a.m.
