SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Silicon Valley Comic Con kicks off on Friday and for the second year in a row, a San Jose based company is auctioning off rare movie memorabilia.

Some of the items are going for nearly a quarter of a million dollars.

You saw it on the screen and now you can have it in your home. "Having the actual piece that the actor actually used is very, very rare," ScreenUsed co-owner Desi Dossantos said.

Some items up for auction from Screen Used are the clock from "Back to the Future," Commander Riker's uniform from "Star Trek" and a Superman suit worn by Christopher Reeve.

"It starts at $65,000. We think it could go for north of $100,000," Dossantos said.

Another item is one of the escape shuttles from "Starship Troopers" like Denise Richards was in. If you don't have room for this in your home, don't worry. They have things from all sizes and price points.

The lowest opening bid is $50 and a "Star Wars" storm trooper helmet is the crown jewel. "We think that could go up to $250,000," Dossantos said.

Dossantos said collectors especially love props from the 80s and 90s, thanks in part to technology.

"Things are changing in the movie industry, where they're going computer graphics, CGI. If you had 'Back to the Future' today, they probably wouldn't have hoverboards. It would all be done on a green screen," he said.

He said it's tough to explain the magic of owning these iconic pieces. "You kinda have to hold it in your hand to find out," he said.

But you'll have to open your wallet first.

The online auction opened at the beginning of the month and the live auction will take place Sunday starting at noon.
