Flooding, mudslides, some school closures expected in North Bay
Residents in the North Bay are preparing to be hit hard by storms overnight into Thursday, some schools will be closed for the day.
There are serious concerns about mudslides and wind warnings throughout Marin County.

In Greenbrae, crews took advantage of lighter rain during the day to put up warning signs and a protective tarp on a hillside that collapsed earlier in the week.
"The tarp just keeps the water off the slide and off the mud and keeping it from eroding more and coming down the hill," said Robert Kaehler, who was working on the site.

Via La Cumbre street was only open to local residents Wednesday, but even they were having a hard time getting around some of the big equipment brought in to keep the area safe.
"Now I gotta get down to Saint Francis Drake, go about three to four blocks, go up the top of the hill and hope they let me get home," said Steve Pollock, a Greenbrae resident.

The storms overnight into Thursday is expected to also hit the area hard.
"Anywhere from four to six inches of rain. We're expecting flood advisories and wind warnings in effect also," said Batt. Chief Bret Mctigue, with the Marin County Fire Department.
At 3:30 PM Wednesday afternoon, Marin County administrators had a conference call to discuss a plan of action in the event of a mudslide and flooding.

"Hand crews, fire personnel and additional water rescue teams and urban search and rescue teams to be on standby if we have any mudslides or water rescues, so we can keep our 9-11 system active and available for anyone who needs it," said Mctigue.
During the call, their main concerns were still the roads. "Just stay home, if it's not important, it's not good to get on the road during these storms and if you don't have a real reason to, stay inside and stay warm and dry," said Mctigue.

Dozens of Marin County Schools will be closed Thursday because of the severe weather.
A couple of districts have announced closures including Kentfield, Mill Valley and the Tamalpais Union High School District. Many private and Parochial schools in Marin County have also canceled classes.
