Closet theft victim speaks out
Theresa Roemer talks about the thief who ransacked her 3,000-square-feet closet

HOUSTON -- The suspect remains on the run in the burglary of what's known as the largest closet in America.

Theresa Roemer says someone broke in through a bathroom window while she and her husband went to dinner on Friday night.

The thief took several Birkin bags, each worth thousands, as well as jewelry and furs.

While Roemer's closet does have a surveillance camera, she says the crook knew how to hide.

"This guy was professional," she said. "He was completely covered. He was in a white or gray one-piece jump suit had gloves on."

Roemer says the thief stole anywhere from $500,000 to $1 million worth of items.

But she says the most important things taken were family heirlooms and a locket that had a strand of hair from her deceased son. Roemer said, "To take the things that mean the most, that you can't replace, that's what's the most hurtful."

Roemer says all of the publicity she received in recent weeks contributed to her getting burglarized.
