The fire was reported at 4:30 p.m. in a home at 3111 Garrow Drive. When firefighters arrived, the teen was outside, the fire was out and the house was filled with smoke, Nieland said.
The boy appeared to have suffered first-and second-degree burns to his chest, mouth and abdomen. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
The boy's parents were not home at the time of the fire.
Information about the cause of the fire was not immediately available and it was unclear how much damage it did.
