Lots of rain means lots of snow. Having fun in the snow is the easy part, but keeping safe is key! Leigh Glaser has helpful safety tips for you and your family when enjoying snow activities.

Safety Tips:

  • Hug a Tree Program:
Children should always tell an adult where they are going. If lost, the best move to is to "hug a tree" and stay put. Keeping warm and dry is important. Lost children can help their searchers by answering their calls. Carrying a garbage bag and whistle will help keep a child dry and alert searchers.
  • Always have a meeting spot, a designated location in case your group becomes separated.
  • Walky talkies are a great way to communicate when cell phone service is poor.
  • Wear a helmet, use sunscreen and goggles or sunglasses.
  • Use handwarmers and water resistant gloves or mittens.
