Two firefighters received minor injuries while suppressing a vegetation fire in Fremont Thursday morning, according to fire officials.

The Fremont Fire Department said the brush fire began at the end of Becando Place around 11:47 a.m. The flames were found to be burning heavy brush along a creek.

The fire was contained by about 12:30 p.m. but two firefighters were struck by large branch as it fell from a tree. They were both transported to Washington Hospital and were released after treatment.

According to the fire department, the cause of the fire has not been determined but appears suspicious.
