The Police Department's Shot Spotter system alerted officers to gunshots just before 9:30 p.m. While responding the officers received a report of a shooting in the same area on Addison Avenue, according to Detective Angel Sanchez.
Officers found one shooting victim in a driveway of a residence in the 2200 block of Addison Avenue.
The victim, East Palo Alto resident William Sandoval, was pronounced dead at the scene, Sanchez said.
A second victim, a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound to the ankle, was also located at the residence. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive, according to Sanchez.
While at the residence officers were notified of three more shooting victims who had arrived at a hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries, Sanchez said.
One of those victims, Roman Soria, endured a gunshot wound to the face. Another victim, Eduardo Contreras, suffered from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and the last victim, Ismael Velasquez, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, according to Sanchez.
Officers believe the shooting is related to an altercation among unwanted guests at a party, Sanchez said.
The shooting appears to have ensued when the altercation turned into a fight and an unknown suspect fired several gunshots into a crowd, striking five, according to Sanchez.
