West Contra Costa school board cuts benefits

A vote in Richmond on Wednesday evening could mean a teacher strike this fall.

The West Contra Costa School Board voted unanimously in favor of a contract proposal that eliminates medical benefits for spouses and children of teachers. It's a move the union says will cost the average teacher more than $4,000 a year.

The district is facing a multi-million-dollar deficit next year.
