Tighter rules were announced today for milk and meat products that are labeled organic.

The Agriculture Department now says milk and meat must come from livestock that graze in pastures at least four months of the year. The old rules only required animals have access to pasture.

About 30 percent of animal feed now must also come from grazing and ranchers must have a plan to protect soil and water quality.
