San Rafael teen shot and killed at complex

SAN RAFAEL, CA

Police responded to multiple phone calls reporting gun shots heard in the area around Kerner Boulevard and Larkspur Street at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

When they arrived, officers found the body of a 17-year-old male victim on the walkway outside of 3411 Kerner Boulevard.

The victim, known to be a gang member, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although a stray bullet shattered the bedroom window of a nearby apartment and lodged in the wall of a room, just two feet from a sleeping 8-year-old child, police said that no one else was injured in the incident.

Windows of a vehicle parked nearby were also shattered by gun fire, police said.

Police immediately shut down Kerner Boulevard between Larkspur and Novato Streets. The area will remain closed while crime scene investigators process the scene.

Police do not have any suspect or motive information at this time.

Anyone with information about the incident can call San Rafael Police at (415) 485-3000 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
