Shelter-in-place lifted after Rodeo standoff

RODEO, Calif.

Shortly before 8 p.m., a report was received of a person with a gun on the 800 block of Coral Drive in Rodeo, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Jimmy Lee.

Deputies arriving at the scene found a resident armed with a gun. He was agitated and refused to come out of his home, Lee said.

Negotiators were called in, but deputies were able to persuade the man to surrender before they arrived. He was taken into custody at 10 p.m., Lee said.

The man was alone, and did not have any hostages.

The shelter-in-place warning, which was issued for residents of Coral Drive, Reef Point Drive and Windward Drive, has been lifted, Lee said.
