It happened last night when an undercover officer began following a suspicious vehicle, described as a dark-colored Acura in the area of Anza Way and Aloha Drive. Investigators say while being followed the suspect made a sudden u-turn and drove directly at the officer's vehicle then opened fire as he passed him.
Several rounds hit the police car, but the officer wasn't injured. Despite a high speed chase right after the shooting, police were unable to catch up with the suspect.
