Three San Jose schools sheltered in place as police investigated a residential burglary that occurred Monday morning.

Around 10:10 a.m., police were notified of a burglary in progress in the 1300 block of Wylie Way, police said.

The victim reported that suspects had forced their way into her home while she was inside.

The victim ran outside and called police.

The suspects fled in a vehicle and were believed to be near Payne Elementary School at 3750 Gleason Ave., police said.

As a precaution, shelter-in-place procedures were enacted at Payne, as well as at nearby Anderson Elementary School at 4000 Rhoda Drive, and Discovery Charter School at 4021 Teale Ave., Moreland School District assistant superintendent of human resources Colette Zea said.
