Vault fire in Vallejo knocks out power to homes

VALLEJO, Calif.

Transformers and equipment caught on fire before 8 a.m. on Almond Avenue. Initially, 800 customers lost power, but by 11 a.m. there were only 13 customers without power.

"There was a big bang in the morning around 7:40 to 7:50, that woke me up and there was fire that was coming out," said neighbor Emerson Hernandez.

PG&E crews are at the scene making repairs and replacing the equipment. There is no estimate when power will be fully restored.
