The minor quake happened at 6:22 p.m. and was centered around two kilometers north of Union City.
So far, there have no reports of any major damage or injuries.
BART completed a track inspection following the quake. The agency is telling passengers normal train service has resumed as of 7:30 p.m., but to expect a 20-minute residual delays systemwide.
Earlier Wednesday, there was a 3.1 quake in San Leandro. It was downgraded to a 2.9.
This comes one day after a large 6.4 earthquake hit Humboldt County in Northern California, that killed two, injured at least 12, and caused widespread damage.
