About 15 people were displaced and one person suffered a minor burn this morning when a three-alarm fire ripped through an eight-unit apartment building in San Rafael, fire officials said.

The fire was reported at 7:11 a.m. at 9 Village Circle, according to fire Chief Jim Lydon. The fire was contained at 8:35 a.m. but all residents were evacuated and have been displaced, Lydon said.

Four of the units were not horribly damaged and those residents may be able to return home shortly, Lydon said.

Water did most of the heavy damage in the other four units, he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no other injuries were reported.
