The first flight, a Boeing 777, will leave from SFO Saturday night, the airline announced. A launch party will begin in the international departures area at 6:30 p.m.
The airline had previously scheduled the daily service to begin May 5, but a holdup with approval from Chinese authorities postponed the launch date, a spokesman said. All flights will stop in Shanghai before continuing to Mumbai.
"The launch of this new daily flight out of San Francisco represents a momentous step not only for Jet Airways, but for the Bay Area business community as a whole," airline founder and chairman Naresh Goyal said in a statement.
With this launch, Jet Airways will become the first Indian airline to fly from San Francisco to Mumbai, airline officials said.
