Woman wounded in officer involved shooting

SAN FRANCISCO

San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said officers were called to an apartment at 1941 15th St. at 11:10 a.m. to assist a social worker with a woman who was making violent threats.

While the officers were inside the home, there was an altercation and shots were fired, Williams said.

He said he could not yet say who had fired the shots and could not confirm that the shooting involved an officer.

The woman who had allegedly been making the threats was hit by the gunfire and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment, Williams said.

Williams said he did not know the woman's condition, nor whether she lived at that address.

No officers were injured, he said.

Neighbors reported hearing the gunshots and one said she saw a woman being loaded into an ambulance afterward.
