Nancy Pelosi visits Hiroshima memorial

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has become the highest ranking U.S. official to visit ground zero of the world's first atomic bombing in Hiroshima, Japan.

Tuesday, Pelosi paid her respects to the 140,000 people who died in the 1945 bombing.

Pelosi is in Japan for nuclear disarmament conference.

Former President Jimmy Carter went to Hiroshima in 1984, but it was afte rhe had left office.
