The mid-size crane tipped over into the street with a man inside the cab around 11:40 a.m. at Lyon Street and Broadway, near the Presidio.
San Francisco fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said the worker was not injured but was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
The crane, which was parked when it fell over, was being used to deliver olive trees to a home in the neighborhood, Talmadge said.
The crane belongs to Sheedy Drayage Co, and the company had the crane back upright by about 2:45 p.m., Talmadge said.
Firefighters were standing by to provide assistance if needed, but were released around 3 p.m.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health will investigate the cause of the accident.
