Brandi Chastain joins Bay Area team

Good news for the Bay Area's new women's professional soccer team; FC Gold Pride has signed one of the most popular soccer players in history -- Bay Area native Brandi Chastain.

"Her experience, passion for the game and leadership is among the best in the world," FC Gold Pride Head Coach Albertin Montoya said. "All of FC Gold Pride is excited about having her join the team."

Chastain became an international star with her World Cup-winning goal in the 1999 World Cup finals against China.

The 40-year-old mother is a Santa Clara University alumnus and currently lives in San Jose.
