Computer hackers have broken into the British version of Monster.com and stolen data on millions of people.

The London Times says the breach involves confidential data provided by 4.5 million users. Most of whom are seeking work via monster's online British recruitment site.

The data includes names, passwords, telephone numbers and other basic information. Security analysts say organized gangs may use the stolen data to open fake bank accounts or take out loans.

Monster is now urging users of its British site to change their passwords immediately.
