Budget ax falls on high-tech task force

The Computer Crimes Task Force closed Friday after losing more than 40 percent of its state funding. Investigators specialized in analyzing data on cell phones and computer hard drives.

Officials say the team helped investigate the killing of Fairfield councilman Matt Garcia and the Diablo Valley College grade-fixing scandal.

The force included agencies from Contra Costa, Solano and 11 other counties north to the Oregon border.
