Caltrain gets more bike racks

Bicycles will soon be getting more space on Caltrain. The transit agency yesterday decided to order more bike racks.

The decision follows complaints by bicycle-riding commuters who are tired of getting bumped off trains when all the bike racks on rail cars are full.

Under the new policy, the total available bike slots during the peak commute increase from the current average of 2,300 to 2,900.

Retrofitting the trains will cost about $200,000.
