A body was found at about 6:10 a.m. on McKee Road near an I-680 offramp, Office Jermaine Thomas said. The person appeared to have been struck by a car.

Investigators believe the hit-and-run occurred on McKee Road near Capitol Avenue and that the victim was dragged a quarter- to a half-mile toward the highway, Thomas said. He did not know what time.

It appears that a few other cars ran over the body before police found the victim, Thomas said.

Thomas said around 9:30 a.m. that the northbound and southbound offramps from I-680 to McKee Road would remain closed for several hours. Only the northbound offramp to eastbound McKee Road had been reopened, he said.

The California Highway Patrol is assisting with traffic control, CHP Officer Aaron Quistad said.
