Tiburon is looking for bidders to install six cameras along two entry points to the community at Tiburon Boulevard and Paradise Drive. The cameras would take color, digital pictures of every passing license plate.

Tiburon's police chief says only the backs of cars would be captured to protect drivers' privacy and all data would be destroyed after a month or two.

The system may cost up to $100,000.
