The fire was reported at about 10 p.m. in a home at 1988 Hicks Ave. and crews managed to contain the blaze at 10:17 p.m., Capt. Barry Stallard said.
He said a 69-year-old woman was found dead in one of the home's bedrooms, where it appears the fire started.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
