Vigil planned for fallen Oakland officers

Just days after four Oakland police officers killed in the line of duty were buried, a coalition of pastors is preparing to hold a prayer vigil Tueday night near the site where the officers were shot.

The vigil begins at 6 p.m. in the Eastmont Mall parking lot at 73rd Street and MacArthur Boulevard.

Organizer Rev. George Cummings of Imani Community Church said it is time for Oakland's religious community to send a message of hope and healing in the wake of the March 21st shootings.

"Churches have to be the first responders to the problems of crime and violence," he said.
