Parking meter prices may increase

It could soon cost even more to park on the streets of San Francisco. The City's Department of Parking and Traffic is considering increasing the cost of meters by 50 cents per hour citywide.

Free parking on Sundays may also be eliminated and parking at meters may no longer be free after 6 p.m.

Metered spaces for motorcyclists could also increase to $1 an hour from the current 10 to 25 cents.

The proposals aim to help offset the $129 million deficit faced by the City's Municipal Transportation Agency which operates Muni.
