The Brookside Community Clinic in San Pablo will receive $320,000 in funding over the next two years. That will allow the clinic to provide medical services to nearly 6,000 patients.
"This clinic and the county regional medical center are being overwhelmed by people who are losing their insurance because they've lost their jobs throughout the Bay Area so that money has really made a difference," Congressman George Miller said Tuesday, during a visit to the clinic.
The recovery funds will allow the clinic to hire nearly 11 new full-time staff positions, including an additional primary care doctor.
