Teen killed by vehicle on Highway 1

Half Moon Bay police officers responded shortly after midnight to reports of a major injury traffic collision on Highway 1 at Ruisseau Francais Avenue.

Officers learned that the victim was crossing Highway 1 just north of Ruisseau Francais Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle traveling on the northbound side of the highway.

The boy died at the scene as a result of his injuries, according to police.

Officers interviewed the vehicle's driver, who cooperated with the investigation.

Highway 1 was closed in both directions between Young Avenue and Frenchmans Creek Road for about three hours because of the crash, but has since been reopened, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to police.
